Mrs. Poisall also recognized the nomination committee and introduced the nominees for next year’s PTA Executive Committee as follows:
Shannon Gittleman – President
Deb Sledge – President In Training

Kim Bell – VP of Volunteers & Membership
Jenny Ellen Russell – Treasurer
Becky Ferrell-Anton – Recording Secretary

The motion by Beth McGraw to accept the nominations was seconded and passed.

Treasurer’s Report (Alison Meyer):
See attached copy of 2013 – 2014 Budget report.

Mrs. Meyer reviewed the Budget-to-Actual report. Income included $4,000 from 5th Grade Events and $1,400 from the Golf Tournament (with $300 left to be paid). Expenses included $1,300 for 5th Grade Events, $660 for the Outreach Committee’s Spring Break survival kids, $1,200 for teacher conferences, $1,000 for teacher reimbursements, and a few other miscellaneous expenses related to conference night dinner for the teachers and teacher appreciation gifts and events. Expenses related to RIF are
coming up at the end of the year as well as expenses related to the 3rd-5th grade class challenge books.

Revisions to the budget were due to the cancellation of the Golf Tournament which resulted in $3,500 less income, and reduced expenses from the school store being under budget. $2,000 was moved to the summer T-shirts line item.

The motion by Maria Fisher to approve the amended budget was seconded and passed.

Committee Reports:
Women’s Bobcat Breakfast (Beth McGraw):
Mrs. McGraw reminded everyone of the breakfast coming up on Friday 5/9 at 8 a.m. She requested everyone remember not to park in the Greater Tampa Assoc. of Realtors (GTAR) parking lot.

Teacher Appreciation (Jenny Ellen Russell for Kim Gilbert):
Mrs. Russell reminded everyone of Teacher Appreciation week coming up next week. A green flyer went home detailing all the activities and how everyone can help. There are links to the Sign Up Genius volunteer sign-ups through the Bobcat Blast, or you can search for Kim Gilbert’s name in Sign Up Genius to access all the different Teacher Appreciation sign-up opportunities. Tuesday will be flower day, so students can bring staff and teachers flowers. On Wednesday students can wear red, white and blue for a $1 donation. The collection will be raffled off to teachers and staff. Anyone with questions can contact Kim Gilbert.

Centennial Committee (Deb Sledge & Brandy McClarin):
Mrs. Sledge and Mrs. McClarin unveiled the logo for Mitchell’s 100th year celebration. The logo was designed by Mitchell dad Ryan Worsham. Next year’s school T-shirts will have the logo, and the logo will be available for polos ordered through Land’s End. The Centennial Celebration will be on February 22, 2015, which was declared Mitchell Day by past Mayor Pam Iorio. As fundraising for the Centennial Celebratation, pre-order forms will be going home this week for Tervis Tumblers with the logo and for a special 100th year door hanger designed by Mitchell mom Lisa Woodward. All pre-orders for these items are due by 5/23, and will be available for pick-up at “Meet the Teacher” in August.

Everyone is encouraged to invite friends, neighbors, relatives and anyone else you know who attended Mitchell to join the Centennial Celebration database to receive more information or to get involved. There is a link on Mitchell’s website or
you can “like” the Centennial Celebration page through Facebook.

Principal’s Report (Joanne Baumgartner):
Mrs. Baumgartner welcomed and thanked everyone for their support as she has announced her retirement after more than 10 years at Mitchell.

She reminded everyone who is interested in participating in Heritage Night on 5/20 to return their forms this week. Also, June 6th is the last day of school and will be a half-day with dismissal at 12:15 pm. Finally, she thanked Mrs. Roberts and Dr. Jefferis for their outstanding work with the Cub Chorus and Strings students. This year, parents’ support of the Heart Strings program raised enough money to support Dr. Jefferis’ salary.

Prior to adjourning the meeting, Mitchell dad Larry Sledge got up on behalf of Mitchell families to thank Mrs. Baumgartner for her years of service at Mitchell.
